Diagnostic Assessments
Education Spectrum offers state-of-the-art diagnostic services for any child, young adult or adult suspected of having an autism spectrum disorder. The diagnostic evaluation uses research based assessment tools and consists of:

• Comprehensive review of all previous medical, educational and assessment records
• In depth review of developmental history and current concerns with parents/guardian
• Administration of the appropriate module of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule(ADOS)- the most widely accepted diagnostic tool for all levels of ASD
• Administration to parents, teacher and client(if appropriate)of relevant rating scales, covering adaptive living skills, social skills, behavioral issues, educational/learning concerns and other areas
• School observation
• Consultation with other associated professionals (if necessary)
• Feedback session with parents (and client if warranted)
• Full written report including diagnostic impressions and recommendations

Developmental Assessments
Education Spectrum provides comprehensive development assessments for children under the age of 5, or those that are signficantly developmentally delayed. The clinic uses assessment-based tools that have been shown to have validity for children with ASD. Assessments are given in the following areas:

• Cognitive abilities
• Language skills
• Motor development
• Social/Emotional skills
• Behavioral functioning
• Adaptive daily living skills

Developmental Assessments may be combined with a Diagnostic Evaluation or performed separately.
